The company was established in 2013 after realising the huge amount of valuable & reusable building materials going to landfill by companies involved in the Christchurch rebuild following the 2011 earthquakes.

Our story & Foundations

CHCH Doorman started informally in 2013 when working as a carpenter on a house in Burwood. While working on the Burwood building site we noticed the house next door was being prepared to be demolished (with its entire structure deemed for landfill). We went over & talked to the boss to ask if he could take a few pieces of joinery & was given 12 hours to take what he wanted. That night we cut out all the joinery & transported them away to store them in the backyard of the family house. Overnight the core company concept was born. For the next four years the company worked out of a backyard in Edgeware & continued to grow into its current warehouse in Saxon St .
